Summer in Morzine is ideal for families: a variety of activities, affordable prices, and a free Multipass included. Here are the must-sees, depending on your children's ages.
Swimming, picnicking, easy walk • Free
Just 5 km from Morzine, Lake Montriond is THE family spot of the summer. Crystal-clear (but chilly!) water, a beach area, a playground, and a snack bar. The atmosphere is relaxed, and children love it.
Swimming is supervised in July and August (2 pm - 6 pm), and there's an easy 30-minute walk around the lake, accessible for strollers. Free parking is a 5-minute walk away (arrive before 11 am in peak season).
Our tip: Come early in the morning (9 am - 11 am) to secure a parking spot and avoid the afternoon crowds. Bring a picnic—the snack bar is expensive. The water temperature is 18-20°C max, so bring a wetsuit if you're sensitive to the cold.
Adventure Course in the Trees • €20-30/person
The treetop adventure course in Morzine (Super Morzine area) offers several courses adapted to different age groups: a mini-course for children as young as 3, a children's course (6-10 years old), and a teen/adult course with impressive zip lines.
Allow 2-3 hours on site. Instructors are present, and equipment is provided. A safe yet stimulating environment—children usually want to come back for more.
Our advice: Book online the day before (limited availability in high season). Come in the morning (9-11 am) when it's still cool—the afternoon can be hot. Expect to pay €25/child, €30/adult. Wear closed-toe shoes and clothes you don't mind getting dirty.
Indoor Tropical Swimming Pool • Multipass Included
Aquariaz in Avoriaz (15 minutes by gondola from Morzine) is an indoor tropical water park: water slides, a lazy river, a children's pool, and jacuzzis. Enjoy a Caribbean atmosphere under a glass roof—it even works in the rain!
It's the perfect activity for rainy days. Heated water (29°C), lagoon decor with palm trees, and a fun atmosphere. Kids love it, and parents can relax.
Our tip: Included FREE with the Multipass (which you get with your Morz'Inn stay!). Avoid the afternoons from 2 pm to 5 pm (it gets very crowded). Opt for 10 am to 12 pm or after 5 pm. Bring your swimsuits and towels. Snacks are available on site (expensive).
💡 Free family activities: Lake Montriond (swimming), town centre mini-golf (€5), Morzine farm animals (free, Mas de la Côte area), Parc Dérêches playground (free, town centre). All accessible without a car.
Summer in Morzine offers romantic moments: panoramic hikes, mountain dinners, spa treatments. Here's how to enjoy the mountains together.
Easy hike with Mont Blanc views • Free
The Nyon hike is one of the most beautiful easy walks in the area. Take the Nyon cable car up (Multipass included), then enjoy a 1.5-hour panoramic ridge walk with views of Mont Blanc, Lake Geneva, and the Dents du Midi. Magical in the late afternoon.
The trail is wide and well-marked, with minimal elevation gain. Bring a picnic or stop at Chez Nannon (a mountain refuge with a terrace and views, serving homemade sausages). Return by cable car or on foot (2-hour easy descent).
Our tip: Start in the late afternoon (4-5 pm) to enjoy the golden light and avoid the heat. Bring a windbreaker—it can be cool at altitude, even in summer. The sunset from Nyon is spectacular.
Panoramic Restaurant • €40-60/person
For a romantic dinner, take the Pléney or Nyon gondola in the evening (service until 7:30 pm in summer) and book a table at La Paika (Pléney) or Chez Nannon (Nyon). Panoramic terrace, sunset views, authentic mountain atmosphere.
La Paika offers refined mountain cuisine (tartiflette, grilled meats), while Chez Nannon is more rustic but ultra-authentic. Take the gondola back down around 9-10 pm under the stars.
Our tip: Book 2-3 days in advance (limited availability in the evening). Bring a sweater/jacket—it gets chilly after sunset. La Paika is more elegant, while Chez Nannon is more intimate. Gondola included with Multipass.
💡 Other ideas for couples: Aquariaz Spa (jacuzzis, hammam), lake walks (Mines d'Or, Montriond at the end of the day), drinks on a terrace in the city centre (Étale, Bec Jaune), couples massage (IVY Spa 80-120€).
Summer in Morzine is a paradise for mountain biking and outdoor sports: world-class bike park, via ferrata, rafting, trail running. Here are the essentials for sports enthusiasts.
Downhill Mountain Biking • Gondolas Included with Multipass
The Morzine Bike Park is a world-renowned downhill mountain biking destination. It features over 30 marked trails (green, blue, red, black), Pléney & Super Morzine gondolas for easy access with your bike, and interconnected bike parks (Morzine-Avoriaz-Les Gets).
Beginner level: Pléney green/blue trails (flow, wide turns). Intermediate level: Super Morzine (technical + speed). Expert level: Nyon + Avoriaz area (roots, drops, technical singletrack). Bike rentals are €40-70/day depending on skill level.
Our tip: FREE gondola access with Multipass (save €35/day!). Rent your bike from Bec Jaune Bikes or Intersport Centre (book online). Beginners: take a 2-hour ESF lesson (€60) — it makes all the difference. Trails dry quickly after rain.
Safe Cliff Climbing • Free (equipment rental not included)
The Via Ferrata at Saix du Tour (15 minutes by car from Morzine) is one of the most beautiful in Haute-Savoie. The route takes 2-3 hours and features impressive aerial sections, zip lines, and a rope bridge. Panoramic views of the Vallée d'Aulps.
Intermediate level required (not for first-time via ferrata climbers). Elevation gain: +300m, exposed sections. Mandatory equipment: helmet, harness, lanyards (rental in Morzine €15/day or guide €50/person).
Our advice: Start EARLY (7-8 am) — in the afternoon the cliff is in full sun (exhausting). If it's your first via ferrata, hire an ESF guide (€50/person, safety + advice). Bring 1L of water per person + snacks. Gloves are recommended.
Enduro Mountain Bike Event • 1 weekend in June
The Pass'Portes du Soleil Mountain Bike Event (one weekend in mid-June) is a legendary event: an 80km course with 7000m of elevation gain crossing 7 French-Swiss resorts (Morzine, Châtel, Champéry, Morgins, etc.). An incredible atmosphere, with 8000 participants.
Not a race, but a timed, accessible ride (if you have a good mountain biking skill level). Registration €80-100, including cable car access and refreshments. The atmosphere on Saturday evening in Morzine is exceptional.
Our advice: Register 2-3 months in advance (it fills up quickly). If you're coming as a spectator, the atmosphere is worth the trip—packed terraces, bike shops everywhere, and a bike exhibition.
☀️ Other adventure sports: Rafting (Dranse, 25 min by car, €45/person), Canyoning (Nyon, €60/person), Paragliding (tandem flight €100-120), Outdoor climbing (free Morzine cliffs), Trail running (free marked trails).
Summer in Morzine isn't just about sports: spas, easy walks, sunny terraces. Perfect for unwinding and enjoying the mountains effortlessly.
Massage, sauna, jacuzzi • €20-80
Several spa options in Morzine: Aquariaz Avoriaz (jacuzzis, hammam, Multipass included), Spa Parc Dérêches (sauna, hammam, €15 entry fee), IVY Spa town center (60-90 min massage, €70-110).
An afternoon at the spa after an active morning is the perfect combination. Aquariaz = fun tropical atmosphere, Parc Dérêches = calmer/more adult-oriented, IVY = personalized professional massage.
Our advice: Aquariaz includes Multipass (free!) — start there. For a professional massage, book IVY Spa 2-3 days in advance (very popular). Parc Dérêches = a great option for those on a budget (€15 entry fee, sauna/hammam/pool). Bring your own towels.
Peaceful walk with mountain views • Free
Several easy walks are easily accessible: Lac des Mines d'Or (1 hour round trip, flat terrain, views of Nyon), Tour Lac Montriond (30 minutes, stroller accessible), Sentier du Nyon (gondola + 1-hour ridge walk).
These walks require no particular fitness level—just a desire for a leisurely mountain stroll. Perfect for families with young children, seniors, or a relaxing afternoon.
Our tip: Mines d'Or in the late afternoon (5-7 pm) = golden light + no crowds. Lac Montriond in the morning (9-11 am) = quiet + parking available. Nyon in the afternoon = gondola included with Multipass, free views of Mont Blanc.
💡 Relax in local style: Enjoy an aperitif on the Bec Jaune terrace (craft beer), read by the lake (peaceful Montriond), play pétanque at Parc Dérêches (free), and visit the local market (Wednesday & Sunday mornings). Authentic village life.
Even in the rain, Morzine offers alternatives: an indoor water park, indoor climbing, a spa, and museums. Here's how to save a rainy day.
☔ Morzine summer weather: July-August = 70% sunny days. Frequent afternoon thunderstorms (15-30 min then clear up). Full day rain = 2-3 days/month max. Bring a windbreaker — useful morning/evening even without rain.
The summer Multipass is THE big advantage in Morzine: unlimited access to 60+ free activities. Here's what it includes and how to take advantage of it.
If you're staying at Karri, the summer Multipass is free for the entire duration of your stay (value €15/day/person). Given to you upon arrival, valid immediately, for minimum 6 nights stay.
Step 1: Pick up your Multipass card upon arrival
Step 2: Present it at the ticket offices for the cable cars, Aquariaz, and swimming pool — free direct access. No need to book, just scan and you're good to go.
Step 3: For guided activities (guided hikes, farm visits, etc.), book at the Tourist Office 1-2 days in advance (limited availability). Full list at passportesdusoleil.com
Our advice: Use the Multipass EVERY DAY — cable cars alone are worth €35/day! Go up Pléney just for the panoramic café La Paika (free ride). Enjoy Aquariaz in the afternoon — included as many times as you like.
